IT'S ALL OVER NOW, BABY BLUE You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast Yonder stands your orphan with his gun Crying like a fire in the sun Look out the saints are comin’ through It’s all over now, Baby Blue The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense Take what you have gathered from coincidence The empty-handed painter from your streets Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets The sky, too, is folding under you It’s all over now, Baby Blue See how all your sea-sick sailors now are rowing home Your empty-handed armies are all marching home The lover who just walked out your door Has taken all his blankets from the floor The carpet, too, is moving under you And it’s all over now, Baby Blue Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you Forget the dead you’ve left, they will not follow you The vagabond who’s rapping at your door Is standing in the clothes that you once wore Strike another match, go start anew And it’s all over now, Baby Blue © Special Rider Music

I THREW IT ALL AWAY I once held her in my arms She said she would always stay But I was cruel I treated her like a fool I threw it all away Once I had mountains in the palm of my hand And rivers that ran through every day But I must have been mad Never knew what I had Until I threw it all away Love is there is, it makes the world go ‘round Love and only love, it can’t be denied No matter what you think about it You just won’t be able to do without it Take a tip from one who’s tried So if you find someone that gives you all of her love Take it to your heart, don’t let it stray For one thing’s for certain You will surely be a-hurtin’ If you throw it all away © Big Sky Music

I'LL BE YOUR BABY TONIGHT Close your eyes, close the door You don’t have to worry anymore I’ll be your baby tonight Shut the light, shut the shade You don’t have to be afraid I’ll be your baby tonight Well, that mockingbird’s gonna sail away We’re gonna forget it That big, fat moon is gonna shine like a spoon But we’re gonna let it You won’t regret it Kick your shoes off, do not fear Bring that bottle over here I’ll be your baby tonight © Dwarf Music
4.
DON'T THINK TWICE, IT'S ALL RIGHT It ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe If you don’t know by now An’ it ain’t no use to sit and wonder why, babe It’ll never do, somehow When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I’ll be gone You’re the reason I’m trav’lin’ on Don’t think twice, it’s all right It ain’t no use in turnin’ on your light, babe The light I never knowed An’ it ain’t no use in turnin’ on your light, babe I’m on the dark side of the road But I wish there was somethin’ that you would do or say That made want to change my mind and stay But we never did too much talkin’ anyway So don’t think twice, it’s all right It ain’t no use in callin’ out my name Like you never done before An’ it ain’t no use in callin’ out my name, babe I can’t hear you anymore I ain’t sayin’ you treated me unkind You could have done better but I don’t mind You just kinda wasted my time But don’t think twice, it’s all right You just kinda wasted my precious time Don’t think twice, it’s all right © Special Rider Music
5.
ONE MORE CUP OF COFFEE (VALLEY BELOW) Your breath is sweet Your eyes are like two jewels in the sky Your back is straight, your hair is smooth On the pillow where you lie But I don’t sense affection No gratitude or love Your loyalty is not to me But to the stars above One more cup of coffee for the road One more cup of coffee ‘fore I go to the valley below Your daddy he’s an outlaw And a wanderer by trade He’ll teach you how to pick and choose And how to throw the blade He oversees his kingdom So no stranger does intrude His voice it trembles as he calls out For another plate of food One more cup of coffee… Your sister sees the future Like your mama and yourself You’ve never learned to read or write There’s no books upon your shelf And your pleasure knows no limits Your voice is like a meadowlark But your heart is like an ocean Mysterious and dark One more cup of coffee… © Ram’s Horn Music

ABANDONED LOVE I can hear the turning of the key I’ve been deceived by the clown inside of me I thought that he was righteous but he’s vain Now something’s a-telling me I wear that ball and chain My patron saint’s a-fighting with a ghost He’s always off somewhere when I need him most The Spanish moon is rising on the hill But my heart is a-telling me I love ya still I come back to town from the flaming moon When I see you in the streets, I begin to swoon I love to see you dress before the mirror Won’t you let me in your room one time ‘fore I disappear? Everybody’s wearing a disguise To hide what they’ve got left behind their eyes But me, I can’t cover what I am Wherever the children go I’ll follow them So call out for Saint John, the Evangelist All my friends are drunk, they can be dismissed My head tells me it’s time to make a change But my heart’s a-telling me I love ya but you’re strange So step lightly, darling, near the wall Take off your heavy make-up and your shawl Won’t you descend from the throne, from where you sit? Let me feel your love one more time before I abandon it © Ram’s Horn Music
7.
IT AIN'T ME, BABE Go away from my window Leave at your own chosen speed I’m not the one you want, babe I’m not the one you need You say you’re lookin’ for someone Never weak but always strong To protect you an’ defend you Whether you are right or wrong Someone to open each and every door But it ain’t me, babe No. no, no, it ain’t me, babe It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for Go lightly from the ledge, babe Go lightly on the ground I’m not the one you want, babe I will only let you down You say you’re lookin’ for someone Who will promise never to part Someone to close her eyes for you Someone to close her heart Someone who will die for you an’ more Bur it ain’t me, babe No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for Go melt back into the night, babe Everything inside is made of stone There’s nothing in here moving An’ anyway I’m not alone You say you’re looking for someone Who’ll pick you up each time you fall To gather flowers constantly An’ to come each time you call A lover for your life an’ nothing more But it ain’t me, babe No, no, no, it ain’t me, babe It ain’t me you’re lookin’ for © Special Rider Music

TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME If today was not an endless highway If toni9ght was not a crooked trail If tomorrow wasn’t such a long time Then lonesome would mean nothing to you at all I can’t see my reflection in the waters I can’t speak the sounds that show no pain I can’t hear the echo of my footsteps Or even remember the sound of my own name Only if my own true love was waitin’ If I could hear your heart a-softly poundin’ Only if you were lyin’ by me Then I’d lie in my bed once again There’s beauty in the silver, singin’ river There’s beauty in the sunrise in the sky But none of these and nothing else can touch the beauty That I remember in my true love’s eyes © Special Rider Music
9.
ONE TOO MANY MORNINGS Down the street the dogs are barkin’ And the day is a-getting’ dark As the night comes in a-fallin’ The dogs’ll lose their bark An’ the silent night will shatter From the sounds inside my mind And I’m one too many mornings And a thousand miles behind From the crossroads of my doorstep My eyes start to fade As I turn my head back to the room Where my love and I have laid An’ I gaze back to the street The sidewalk and the sign And I’m one too many mornings And a thousand miles behind It’s a restless hungry feeling That don’t mean no one no good When ev’rything I’m a-sayin’ You can say it just as good You’re right from your side I’m right from mine We’re both just one too many mornings And a thousand miles behind © Special Rider Music

KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR Mama, take this badge off of me I can’t use it anymore It’s gettin’ dark, too dark to see I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Mama, put my guns to the ground I can’t shoot them anymore That long black cloud is comin’ down I feel like I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door © Ram’s Horn Music

LOVE MINUS ZERO / NO LIMIT My love she speaks like silence Without ideals or violence She doesn’t have to say she’s faithful Yet she’s true, like ice, like fire People carry roses Make promises by the hours My love she laughs like the flowers Valentine’s can’t buy her In the dime stores and bus stations People talk of situations Read books, repeat quotations Draw conclusions on the wall Some speak of the future My love she speaks softly She knows there’s no success like failure And that failure’s no success at all The cloak and dagger dangles Madams light the candles In ceremonies of the horsemen Even the pawn must hold a grudge Statues made of matchsticks Crumble into one another My love winks, she does not bother She knows too much to argue or to judge The bridge at midnight trembles The country doctor rambles Banker’s nieces seek perfection Expecting all the gifts that wise men bring The wind howls like a hammer The night blows cold and rainy My love she’s like some raven At my window with a broken wing © Special Rider Music
