“The Bitch In Me” is the second single from Vargen's forthcoming debut album of original work.
The music and lyrics came instantly and simultaneously. I remember I had an odd mix of Amy Winehouse, George Harrison and Rihanna’s vocal styles in mind when I wrote it. That sneer in the voice even in a heart-break song, I tried to go for that.
Musically, “The Bitch In Me” is a slow rocker rooted in 70’s Rolling Stones/Neil Young territory. The instrumental mid-section evolves around a riff reminiscent of The Doors or Led Zeppelin and features some great solo performances by Dag Hallberg (keys) and Per Bengtsson (guitar).
“The Bitch In Me” is released on all major music streaming services on Friday April 28, 2023.
Genre: Rock - Label: Border/Redeye/Vargen Records - UPC 634457139084
The forthcoming album is preliminarly released on October 6, 2023. The album consists of 9 tracks and features, among others, a guest appearance by guitar legend Jojje Wadenius.
The music video is a live version of the track, taken from an live session pre-listening concert. The show - Recordia Live - will be streamed later this year and is produced with support from Kulturrådet/Swedish Arts Council, Region Halland and Varbergs kommun.

lyrics
THE BITCH IN ME
Wish you were deeper
Now, you couldn’t be much sweeter to me
Everything about you
brings out the bitch in me
Now, ain’t it funny
the way you stack your money
You used to be special
when you were playin’ for keeps
Now, is it an obsession?
This thing about possession
This wolf can’t be dogged,
just hold your leash
And baby, baby, it’s killin’ me
to see the way you drag your face
in the mud
Yeah, I wish you were deeper
Now you act the gatekeeper of love
Love can’t be owned
Now, that’s what I’ve been told, nah…
An’ baby baby, I’ve been told
you already got someone new
in the sights of your gun…
I wish you were deeper
Now you couldn’t be much sweeter to me
Everything about you
brings out the bitch in me
Wish you were deeper
Yeah
Now, talk
couldn’t get cheaper than this
Rich man, poor man,
now I’m the shut the door man
Good love, bad love,
gonna be a ‘ve had love
Can’t you see,
you bring out the bitch in me
